Guiding Principles in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health: The Nature of Human Attachment and the Power of Relationships

An introduction to the field of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health that will examine the interpersonal processes central to brain development and to the unfolding nature of infant and early childhood mental health. The webinar will cover the six "guiding principles" in infant mental health, as well as corollary early childhood mental health principles. This is suitable for those new to the field but also serves as a summary of the core principles of our shared work for an experienced multidisciplinary workforce.

Presented by Dr. Gerard Costa

Dr. Costa is a licensed developmental psychologist and founding director of the Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health at Montclair State University. He holds certificates in the Brazelton Touchpoints model, DIR-C®, and Infant Mental Health. He is Principal Investigator of the New Jersey Autism Center of Excellence (ACE) Coordinating Center at Montclair State University, that oversees more than 20 clinical research sites. He has led statewide multi-year projects on Infant Mental Health in Wyoming and South Dakota.
